At the end of September 2024, Nepal faced relentless torrential rains, triggering devastating landslides and floods. While the monsoon is nothing new here, this year’s downpours were stronger than ever, made worse by the impacts of climate change. Villages that already had limited resources were hit hard, and the damage is heartbreaking.

But in the face of this tragedy, there’s also hope. The Nepalese army was quick to step in, rescuing people and locating those trapped under debris. Yet, the toll is heavy: 224 lives lost, 31 people still missing, and 96 others injured.

The Impact on Nepal

Entire communities have been cut off, as landslides blocked major roads like the Prithvi Highway—one of the country’s lifelines. Rescue teams of police officers, soldiers, and volunteers, along with over 3,000 brave souls, have been working around the clock to reach those in need using boats and helicopters.

The damage goes beyond infrastructure. The loss of life is profound, including 35 children, and with 12 schools destroyed, countless young futures have been disrupted. Economically, the losses are estimated at 17 billion Nepalese rupees.

On October 10, Nepal’s tourism office announced that most of the blocked roads have been restored, airports are fully operational, and the popular trekking routes are once again accessible.

A website has also been set up to provide up-to-date information for tourists, guides, and locals about the state of roads and trekking circuits.

Not only can you still visit, but your presence could be a much-needed boost for the local communities rebuilding their lives. Tourism is a vital part of Nepal’s economy, and by visiting, you're directly contributing to the country’s recovery.

How You Can Help on the Ground

I’m super excited to share this amazing opportunity with you – a 9-day trek through the stunning landscapes of Langtang Valley in Nepal that not only offers adventure but makes a real difference in the lives of local communities.

We’ll be supporting two villages: Roshi, which is still recovering from a devastating river flood, and Ramechhap, where a landslide has hit hard. These places need help, and they often don’t get much support from the government.

During the trek, you’ll spend 2 days visiting these villages, meeting the locals, and we will be handing over the funds we raise.

For each trek  booked, you contribute $200 directly to the villagers, helping them rebuild homes and lives.

You’ll be guided by a local expert who knows the region inside out and can share all its hidden stories with us.
